HELP!!! Griddle Handle's Off!

Hello All,

I'm a newbie here, just lurking until now. I've owned a 90C (her name is Zora, in honor of Zora Neale Hurston, the writer) for the last three years and I LOVE it! My problem is the handle that moves the griddle up and down has come off! The screws are still in place and I have the handle and washer...I just don't see how to get to the back of the screws to tighten them onto the handle. I thought I could enter from the side panel closest to the screws, but no deal. Can someone help me please??? I use this griddle several times a week (no fried foods for me!) and I don't like it when Zora doesn't look her best. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Hi Lurker, Sounds like you have the 3 piece "insulated" handle. You will need an 1/8" Allen wrench to remove the chrome piece that is left on the gridle shaft. Loosen the Allen screw and remore the piece from the stove. Then you can get to the 3 screws that hold the black insulator and the hamdle together. If the threads are stripped, you can find a single piece handle as the replacement. These screws usually strip out because of a tight, rusted mechanism. Take the side panel off and lube the gears and shafts. Valve grease is good for this.

I've got the handle off...only one of the three screws is stripped. I'll just feel more comfortable if I get a one piece handle.

Once I put it back on, the griddle handle now sits horizontally...actually I keep getting hung up on it since it sticks out so far, and this is with the griddle down! I haven't yet lubricated as you suggested. How can I get the handle to sit vertically like the others with the griddle down?
